Pg 02
[cleaned up English that appears in the publication]
2050 A.D.
It has been a long time since the human race began to emigrate to all corners of the galaxy.  However, because of the rebellions, riots and syndicated crimes that were erupting behind this peace and prosperity, Earth established a special command corp. of advanced Variable Fighters.
The VF-X Ravens.
A squad of particularly talented and determined elite pilots that answers only to the highest echelon of the government...

[Japanese text on same page]
2050 AD
Earth's mankind is continuing to widely emigrate within the galaxy and they tried to summon a stable period.  However, in the shadow of that peace and prosperity, syndicated crime and such things as uprising and rebellions frequently occurred.
The Macross government that faced these new crises, promoted elite pilots and established a special duties unit.
The name of that unit is "VF-X Ravens".

Pg 21
Variable Fighters: Data and Picture
Combat-ability data for each form of a total of 10 models of Variable Fighters are introduced in "VF-X2".  We hope that you to refer to the Data and Picture during airframe selection.  Furthermore, in the entries of the weapons that each form are able to use, the initial bullet load is also indicated.

Pg 22
VF-1X-Plus Valkyrie
Among the Variable Fighters, the VF-1X+ only has average ability.  However, it has good manoeuvrability and it is stable as it's movement is smooth.  Not having speed is a handicapped against abnormally fast enemies.  Draw out the merits of it's stability by using cover.

Shield gauge: max 300
Data
Maximum speed: 4
Acceleration performance: 4
Turning performance: 5
Enemy-searching ability: 4
Stability: 6

Basic Data (when in fighter)
Length: 14.23 m
Height: 3.84 m
Width: 14.78 m (wings at maximum extension), 8.25 m (fully swept)
Empty Weight: 13.25 t
Maximum Speed: Mach 3.05 (at 10,000 m), Mach 4.28 (at 30,000 m or higher)

Available Armaments Data
Main Weapon, bullet number, damage
Gun Pod, 9999, 3

Sub-weapon, bullet number, damage, maximum number of lock-ons*, time needed to lock-on
Normal Missile, 600, 25, 8 (4), 0.6 seconds
Micro-Missile, 100, 15, 12 (6), 0.15 seconds
Chaff, 20, -, -, -
* Maximum number of lock-ons are displayed as: fighter (GERWALK).

Missions it's able to sortie in: No. 01, 02, 04, 06, 11.  Round 2 over: all missions.

Special Features of the Transformation Styles
Fighter Mode

Available Armaments:
Gun Pod: 9999
Normal Missile: 600
Micro-Missile: 100
Chaff: 20

Gun Pod Range: 800; Pursuing Angle: 0
Missile Lock-on Range: 3,500; Lock-on Cancel Range: 4,500
Missile Lock-on Angle: 100º; Lock-on Cancel Angle: 130º

Though it's an airframe that was developed in the initial period, it demonstrates reasonable power.  And even though it can do tight turns, the VF-1X+ is easily carried away by the influence of gravity.  From such things as having the slowest low speed, there are parts of the VF-1X+ that more or less have strong idiosyncrasies.  Even though it's easy to use, the VF-1X+'s interior is profound, and it is the "expert's choice" airframe.

GERWALK Mode
Available Armaments:
Gun Pod: 9999
Normal Missile: 600
Micro-Missile: 100
Chaff: 20

Gun Pod Range: 800; Pursuing Angle/Cancel Angle: 150º/180º
Missile Lock-on Range: 2,000; Lock-on Cancel Range: 3,000
Missile Lock-on Angle: 120º; Lock-on Cancel Angle: 150º

Though it's turning speed is fast, it's movement speed is slow.  However, the distance it moves at one time is lengthy.  In other words, it moves slowly at long ranges.  Even though it is useful to consider GERWALK mode to be like a fixed artillery piece, it's movement and ability to escape from such things as enemies and missiles seems to be terrible.

Battroid Mode
Available Armaments:
Gun Pod: 9999
Chaff: 20

Gun Pod Range: 800; Pursuing Angle/Cancel Angle: 150º/180º

Though the movement speed is slow, it's turning speed is fast.  If you consider the gun pod  attacks to be approximately at a fixed position and that it is effective at tight turns, then it's possible to say that the VF-1X+ is a good, user friendly airframe.  However, you'd probably  had better not dream up a situation where you fight only in Battroid mode.

Pg 29
VF-1X-Plus Super Valkyrie
A VF-1 that carries a Super Pack on the back basically is able to draw-out an ability proportionate to the VF-11B.  The performance also, even though it's not so high as to tower above the rest, is very useful in the opening of the game as it's an easily operated airframe.

Shield gauge: max 350

Gun Pod, 9999, 3

Sub-weapon, bullet number, damage, maximum number of lock-ons*, time needed to lock-on
Normal Missile, 600, 25, 8 (4), 0.6 seconds
Micro-Missile, 100, 15, 12 (6), 0.15 seconds

Special Features of the Transformation Styles
Fighter Mode

Available Armaments:
Gun Pod: 9999
Normal Missile: 600
Micro-Missile: 100
Chaff: 20

Gun Pod Range: 800; Pursuing Angle: 0
Missile Lock-on Range: 3,500; Lock-on Cancel Range: 4,500
Missile Lock-on Angle: 100º; Lock-on Cancel Angle: 130º

The VF-1X+'s turning performance has fallen somewhat below average, and it can be referred to as an airframe that is approximately balanced and well tuned.   Even though it is an airframe of average ability, to the extent that it's armour is thicker than such craft as the VF-1 and VF-11, it can be used against enemies with peace of mind.

GERWALK Mode
Available Armaments:
Gun Pod: 9999
Normal Missile: 600
Micro-Missile: 100
Chaff: 20

Gun Pod Range: 800; Pursuing Angle/Cancel Angle: 150º/180º
Missile Lock-on Range: 2,000; Lock-on Cancel Range: 3,000
Missile Lock-on Angle: 120º; Lock-on Cancel Angle: 150º

It's said to be an airframe that is neither good nor bad.  Nevertheless, if you're going to use it, limiting it to the missions in the first half of the game is safe.  Because it's turning ability is somewhat low, it is in danger of not being able to keep pace with the speed of the intense enemy attacks in the latter half of the game.

Battroid Mode
Available Armaments:
Gun Pod: 9999
Chaff: 20

Gun Pod Range: 800; Pursuing Angle/Cancel Angle: 150º/180º

Even if you are shooting with the gun pod and maintaining a standard line, if the enemy speed is superior, the enemy will be able to shake free from the attack.  When using Battroid Mode, make sure you become accustomed to sensing the vicinity around the VF.

Pg 30
VF-1X-Plus Armored Valkyrie
The Armoured boasts of a maximum of 60 missile lock-ons.  If done by means of the height of this attack and the thickness of the armour, than there is no place for an enemy to face it.  However, because it can move only in Battroid Form, it takes time to fight.

Shield gauge: max 500

Sub-weapon, bullet number, damage, maximum number of lock-ons*, time needed to lock-on
Normal Missile, 60*, 10, 60, 0.05 seconds
Grenade Crusher, 10, 100**, 1, 1.2 seconds

* The maximum number that can be launched at a time.  After firing, the bullets are restored.
** Damage when directly hit.  When hit by the shock wave, there is 20 damage per second.

Missions it's able to sortie in: Round 2 over: No. 03, 05, 08

Battroid Mode Only
Battroid Mode

Available Armaments:
Gun Pod: 9999
Normal Missile: 60
Grenade Crusher: 10

Gun Pod Range: 800; Pursuing Angle/Cancel Angle: 150º/180º
Missile Lock-on Range: 3,000; Lock-on Cancel Range: 4,000
Missile Lock-on Angle: 100º; Lock-on Cancel Angle: 150º

Even though its defensive capability is low compared to the Armoured VF-11, it is still considerably higher than other forms.  It's greatest weakness is that it is slow-footed.  Even though it doesn't take time to fight, it has a tendency to take too much time to reach the enemy.

Pg 41
Airframe Characteristics

Caption: The VF-19A can move quickly by swinging the speedometer completely to 100%.  It's feature is the spacious width of the slowest speed and the highest speed.

Even though each airframe's characteristics are expressed most obviously, it is the fighter's movement that expresses it the most.  Basically, even though the performance of the new models are good, the amount of idiosyncrasies tends to be strengthened, too.  In relation to speed, note the point that it isn't "the faster, the better".  For instance, when the speed at 25% is fast, because targets are quickly approached, the time that it is possible to lock-on to the enemy is shortened.

Offensive: Gun Pods & Missiles
Defensive: Chaff & Pin-point Barriers
